EasyDC-FOS holds its General Assembly at Enlit Europe with the participation of the Advisory Board and strengthens its visibility at the exhibition

The Enlit Europe 2025 exhibition, held from 18 to 20 November in Bilbao, hosted the project’s General Assembly meeting and the second gathering of its Advisory Board, composed of representatives from Red Eléctrica, Amprion, TenneT, EDP Redes España and DOFI (Danish Optical Fiber Innovation). In addition, the project strengthened its visibility at the event through its presence at the EU Projects Zone stand and a presentation delivered by the coordinator – RDT Lumiker – during the session dedicated to direct current technologies.

Enlit Europe is one of the most relevant energy events at European level, bringing together the entire sectoral ecosystem: industry professionals, public authorities, innovative companies and investors. Its programme covers, in a comprehensive way, the main challenges and trends in energy generation, transmission, distribution, storage and digitalisation, providing a space for knowledge exchange and for showcasing the technologies that will shape the evolution of the energy system in the coming years. Transmission and distribution play a central role at the exhibition, with a strong focus on solutions that will modernise the grid and support the transition towards more sustainable systems. Among the key topics are smart grids, the integration of renewable energy sources, the digitalisation of electric infrastructure, and advances in HVDC technologies, which are essential to improve the efficiency and reliability of long-distance electricity transmission. As leader of the communication and dissemination activities of EasyDC-FOS, BASQUENERGY Cluster coordinated several key actions during the event with the aim of strengthening the project’s international visibility.

On 20 November, the project’s General Assembly Meeting took place, during which partners reviewed the progress achieved in each task and agreed on the next steps. That same day, the second Advisory Board meeting was also held, with several members attending in person in Bilbao. Following the constitutive meeting held in September, where the Advisory Board received an overview of the project, this second session focused on exploring in greater depth the technical aspects of greatest interest to grid operators. It offered an opportunity to begin collecting their feedback and to align the project’s developments with real market needs, particularly those of end-users such as TSOs.

EasyDC-FOS also had a strong presence in the EU Projects Zone thanks to the presentation delivered by Manuel Muñoz, Managing Director of RDT-Lumiker and project coordinator, during the session dedicated to DC Technologies. This slot brought together several European initiatives working on new HVDC solutions (HVDC-wise, Shift2DC, HYNET, CABLEGNOSIS and DC-POWER), offering a shared view of the advances currently under development across Europe. The session was especially valuable, as it made it possible to present the objectives and early results of EasyDC-FOS, learn first-hand about the work of other projects and explore potential synergies between them.

Beyond the technical activities, the project’s presence at Enlit Europe was further strengthened through its visibility in the exhibition areas. EasyDC-FOS featured its own stand in the EU Projects Zone, where the official video, roll-up and dissemination materials were displayed, allowing visitors to learn more about the project’s scope and progress. In parallel, the project was also showcased at the BASQUENERGY Cluster stand, located in the Smart Grids Basque Country pavilion alongside other R&D&I initiatives from the Basque ecosystem, extending its reach among professionals visiting the industry exhibition halls. As part of these dissemination efforts, BASQUENERGY Cluster prepared a dedicated catalogue gathering all the innovation projects in which the Cluster participates – including EasyDC-FOS – which was distributed among visitors interested in learning more about the Basque energy sector’s research activities.
