EasyDC-FOS will contribute to this objective by developing a new generation of HVDC >525kV cable systems with optimized energy transport capability and reduced environmental impact, paired with fibre optic-based intelligent tools for ageing monitoring and efficient fault detection hosted in a cybersecure digital environment.

Identify and define the specific design, technical specifications and standards required to develop the new cable system and monitoring solutions.

Design and develop a safe, cost-efficient HVDC cable solution that enhances performance, extends lifecycle, and meets industry standards.

Develop and optimize digital tools and indicators for precise identification of thermal, acoustic, and space charge factors to monitor ageing in cable systems.

Create a fault location tool for HV cables using fiber optic sensing to detect acoustic, vibration, and temperature anomalies.

Develop and deploy a digital fiber optic PD monitoring system with an online PD analyzer, reducing fault alarm inaccuracies and enhancing maintenance safety.

Integrate the stand-alone digital models into an edge, cybersafe infrastructure.

Demonstrate the technologies in relevant European environments, through the execution of tests that will measure compliance with the proposed benchmarks.

Ensure the sustainability of the proposed technologies, minimizing environmental impact and supporting ongoing evolution in the energy industry.
