EasyDC-FOS research progress on advanced HVDC cable technologies released at CIGRE 2026 Session in Paris

The EasyDC-FOS project was present at the CIGRE 2026 Session, held from 23 to 28 August 2026 in Paris. As one of the world’s premier technical events for power systems, CIGRE brought together global experts, grid operators, and research leaders to address the future of high-voltage transmission networks and interconnected energy systems.

EasyDC-FOS partners produced two scientific papers for the event, focused on advanced cable monitoring and predictive modelling, which were showcased and explained at the Poster Session on Insulated Cables.

The first contribution, titled “Nobel passive signal acquisition system for PD monitoring of very long cables based on optical fibre”, was jointly developed by RDT Lumiker, Ampacimon, and the University of Valladolid.

The second paper, “Predictive Modelling of XLPE Cable Systems Using Real-Time Monitoring via Distributed Sensing and Edge Integration in the EasyDC-FOS Framework”, was collaboratively produced by Statnett, Energinet, RDT Lumiker, and AP Sensing.

In addition, the project gained further visibility within the exhibition, where EasyDC-FOS was featured through project brochures available at some of the partners’ booths.

This combined presence reinforced the project’s position as a benchmark of HVDC cable technology, demonstrating how advanced monitoring, distributed sensing, and strategic research collaboration are driving the safe and efficient integration of future European energy grids.
