EasyDC-FOS Highlighted at openLCA.conf 2025 in Berlin
The EasyDC-FOS project was presented at openLCA.conf 2025, showcasing its Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) of next-generation HVDC cables. Through the contribution of GreenDelta GmbH, the project highlighted its commitment to developing environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable energy transmission solutions.
The EasyDC-FOS project was showcased at the openLCA.conf 2025, held in Berlin on 10-11 April. The event brought together life cycle assessment (LCA) practitioners and users of the openLCA software from industry, academia, and public institutions, offering a key platform for exchanging knowledge on sustainability assessment methods and applications.
Our partners from GreenDelta GmbH represented the project at the event, contributing to the dissemination of the Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) being carried out within EasyDC-FOS. This assessment compares the new HVDC cable system under development with conventional alternatives, evaluating their environmental, social, and economic performance. The results aim to provide decision-makers with concrete recommendations to optimise the design, manufacturing, and deployment of innovative cable technologies.
As part of their role in the project, GreenDelta is also developing a regulatory framework to support the future deployment of next-generation HVDC cables. This includes defining key indicators, thresholds, and guiding principles, and integrating eco-design criteria through Life Cycle Assessments to minimise the environmental impact of materials and manufacturing processes.
EasyDC-FOS’s presence at openLCA.conf underlines the project’s commitment to sustainability and highlights the importance of robust, science-based tools in guiding innovation toward greener infrastructure.
